Community Leadership Series
The Chamber is offering a Spring series of seminars to help members of the community learn about how local governmental and municipal organizations operate.
January 19—“City Services: Are you getting what you pay for?” Hear representatives from the City of Batavia talk about their Mission & Vision. Learn the role of your elected officials and the city departments and department heads. Hear about the city budget, including sources and targets of funds.
February 16—“Protecting Family & Home” Discover how the police, fire and emergency services organizations strive to offer you support and safety.
March 15—“Investing in Our Community and its Future” Learn about the Batavia School District and Park District. What are their missions and visions…how do they budget and what are their sources and targets of funds.
April 19—“No City is an Island: Local governance Beyond Batavia” Next up is Kane County and the Batavia Township. Discover their role in relation to the City. How are they organized, funded and what are their mission critical issues?
May 17—“Innovation & Growth in Tough Times” What is being done to support economic development? You will hear from a distinguished panel from the City, Chamber, MainStreet and the County. What is Economic Development? What are the major activities of each organization? How do they work together?
Business “Lunch & Learn“ with Aurora University
In an exciting new partnership with the business school at Aurora University, the Chamber is putting the finishing touches on a year-long, six-lunch series on critical business issues. The lunch will be the 2nd Thursday of every other month starting in January. The topics we have identified include:
- Strategies for Business Growth
- Proven Marketing Strategies
- E-commerce and Social Media Strategies
- Converting Prospects into Customers
- Financial Indicators to Measure Success
- Economic Outlook
