Nicknamed “The Windmill City,” it soon became known as the windmill manufacturing capital of the world. Now, with over 175 years of history, Batavia is the home to over 200 varied manufacturing, research and warehousing firms, as well as proudly serving as hometown for the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, a world-renowned high energy physics research lab and Mooseheart, the international “child city” of the Moose Lodge. The Batavia Chamber of Commerce continues to grow, and now serves more than 340 members.
